Halogen Test Apparatus

The Halogen Test is used to determine the halogen acid gas content released during combustion of cables and other polymeric materials. It ensures compliance with safety standards by evaluating the toxicity and corrosiveness of emitted gases.

This apparatus is designed to measure the amount of halogen acid gas (HCl,  HBr, etc.) emitted when cable insulation or sheathing materials are burned.

Key Components & Features:

  1. Tube Furnace System:
    • Quartz tube furnace with temperature control up to 1000°C
    • Digital PID temperature controller
    • Sample holder for test material
  2. Gas Collection & Measurement:
    • Gas collection bottles (500 ml or 1000 ml)
    • Airflow system for controlled combustion environment
    • PH and Conductivity Meters to measure acidity and conductivity of released gases
    • Digital display for accurate readings
  3. Additional Features:
    • Magnetic Stirrer to mix solution in collection bottles
    • Quartz sample boat for material placement
    • High-precision airflow meters for gas regulation

Testing Process:

  1. The sample is burned in the quartz tube furnace at a controlled temperature.
  2. The emitted gases pass through gas collection bottles containing distilled water.
  3. The pH and conductivity of the solution are measured to determine the halogen content.
