ENDURANCE TEST FOR SWITCHES Automated Switch Endurance Testing System
This automated 3-station Switch Endurance Test Bench is a robust solution for verifying the durability and performance of household and rocker switches. It’s engineered to meet the stringent standards outlined in IEC 60669, IS 3854, and BS EN 60669. The system can handle a wide spectrum of switch ratings, from 6 A to 50 A (Ordering Selection), accommodating both single-phase and three-phase loads.
Key Test Capabilities
The test bench offers a comprehensive suite of customizable tests to ensure switch reliability:
Normal Operation (Endurance): This test, referencing Clause 19.1 in the specified standards, simulates the typical lifespan of a switch by subjecting it to numerous cycles of making and breaking a resistive load.
Making and Breaking Capacity: As per Clause 18.1, this test assesses a switch’s ability to safely energize and de-energize a circuit under a specified load without damage or failure.
Temperature Rise: Clause 17 testing evaluates the temperature increase of the switch’s various components under continuous full-load conditions, ensuring it remains within safe limits to prevent overheating.
Fluorescent Lamp Load: Referencing Clause 19.2, this test specifically simulates the unique inductive and capacitive loads presented by fluorescent lighting circuits, which can be more demanding on switches than simple resistive loads.
Tungsten Filament Lamp Load: In accordance with Clause 18.2, this test addresses the high inrush currents associated with tungsten filament lamps, which can be particularly stressful on a switch’s contacts.
